Summary

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the General Manager (“GM”) of Project Finance will be responsible for all JERA Americas project level financings as well as valuation of M&A opportunities.  This will include both refinancings of existing assets as well as new financings of development projects and acquired projects.  JERA Americas projects include gas fired power plants, renewable energy projects, LNG facilities, and low carbon initiatives.  The job duties will include energy project financings (nat gas/LNG/wind/solar/energy storage/low carbon), negotiation of financing contracts, risk management and coordination with all related functions (e.g. development, origination, EPC, legal, asset management, etc.). The individual will work directly with the VP of Finance, CFO of JERA Americas, CEO of JERA Americas, Chief Development Officers (CDOs), Mergers & Acquisitions team to prioritize deals and maximize project and portfolio value creation. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in project finance, deal structuring, negotiating various financing agreements, and working with a diverse functional group.

Position Description

  • Draft and drive strategic and tactical plans, executing and optimizing project and portfolio financings on all energy assets in the U.S.;
  • Lead and manage financings for all JERA Americas projects to include debt, tax equity, project and portfolio structuring optimization, project sales, and risk mitigation;
  • Ensure all M&A opportunities are valued in line with JERA guidelines, review diligence for financial risks, and provide financial structuring options to enhance value;
  • Manage the creation of long-term valuation models for JERA owned assets including a corporate roll-up model;
  • Utilize network and experience to drive project finance and business development efforts;
  • Build and manage the JERA Americas project finance team both internally and with external partners and consultants;
  • Manage corporate finance activities including the administration and renewal of JERA Americas credit facilities;
  • Negotiate and execute complex financial transactions and contracts associated with all project finance work-streams;
  • Be the external face of JERA Americas to all project finance counterparties and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field
  • 10 + years of experience in project finance, structuring, origination, finance;
  • 3 + years of experience in managing others;
  • Extensive experience in executing complex financial transactions in the energy industry

Preferred Education and Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • MBA degree or CFA designation
  • 15 + years of experience in project finance, structuring, origination, finance;
  • 5+ years of experience in managing others;
