Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Upstream Accounting to help lead our upstream financial operations. This role requires deep technical expertise in reserves accounting, impairment testing, depletion calculations, and acquisition integration, along with strong proficiency in BOLO accounting software. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration. This position will be seconded to the operating team. This position will primarily sit in The Woodlands, with travel to downtown Houston several times a month.

Position Description

  • Integrate fully with operating team as a JERA Americas secondee.
  • Fully integrate into operating team’s systems and provide JERA Americas insights into system design and operations.
  • Learn operating team’s processes and report back to JERA Americas leadership to bring comprehensive understanding to JERA Americas.
  • Work with JERA Americas team to ensure data and information are flowing seamlessly from operating team to JERA Americas.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for upstream operations, including monthly close, variance analysis, and audit support.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to support quarterly and annual audits.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and accounting standards, implementing changes as needed.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Promote collaboration between all departments at operator and JERA Americas.
  • Champion process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate decisive leadership in complex problem-solving and decision-making scenarios.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, delivering insights and recommendations that support business goals.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
•    7–10 years of progressive experience in upstream oil and gas accounting.
•    Strong proficiency in BOLO and other industry-specific accounting systems.
•    Experience with SAP
•    Expertise in reserves accounting, impairment testing, and depletion methodologies.
•    Proven experience with accounting integration.
•    Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
•    CPA 
•    MBA or Master’s in Accounting
•    Big 4 Public Accounting
•    System implementation experience
