Summary

Summary/Objective

 

The Manager, Contract Administration is primarily responsible for establishing the Contract Administration function at JERA Americas and works closely with the Commercial, Risk, and Credit teams.

 

Position Description

Essential Functions

 

  • Establish the Contract Administration function at JERA Americas
  • Working with Commercial Counsel, Compliance Counsel, and the Commercial, Risk and Credit teams, create, update and maintain procedures for contract administration at JERA Americas
  • In close alignment with the Commercial team and Commercial Counsel draft, review and negotiate agreements related to the purchase and sale of physical and financial products in the independent power business, including, power purchase agreements and tolling agreements
  • Liaise with Legal, Credit, Commercial and other support partners to assure any additional terms are properly incorporated into contracts.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Commercial, Risk and Credit teams
  • Provide weekly updates of any outstanding items to Commercial Counsel
  • Proactively identify opportunities to further streamline process and improve productivity.
  • Participate in testing of system and process upgrades
  • Ensure that any agreement is in accordance with internal guidelines.
  • Primary point of contact for internal stakeholders with inquiries and/or requests regarding contractual terms and conditions.
  • Maintain counterparties and contracts information in trading platform and contract database as well as assist with other counterparty onboarding tasks as required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged time as necessary.

 

Expected Hours of Work

Days and hours of work are established between the employee and the supervisor.

 

Travel

Minimum business travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, business, math, or relevant experience in the electric energy industry
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in trading environment
  • Document administration in Microsoft Word

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the industry’s regulations and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of reporting operations and procedure
  • Familiarity and understanding of working with contracts and/or energy markets
  • Understanding financial implications associated with physical and financial transactions in wholesale electricity and natural gas
  • Ability to assess contractual risk and make decisions accordingly
  • Capable of effectively communicating with internal and external contacts
