Reporting to the General Manager of Project Finance, the Manager of Finance will be responsible for supporting JERA America’s corporate finance activities and long-term financial planning and analysis of its portfolio of energy assets.  JERA Americas projects include gas fired power plants, renewable energy projects, LNG facilities, and low carbon initiatives.  The job duties will include managing and raising corporate finance facilities, building and managing long-term project models, owning the JERA corporate long-term planning model, supporting the M&A team on modeling for sell-side initiatives, supporting the General Manager on project financings, and other ad hoc duties as needed.  The individual will work directly with the General Manger of Project Finance (“GM”), SVP of Finance, CFO of JERA Americas, CEO of JERA Americas, Chief Development Officers (CDOs), Financial Asset Management group, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), GM of FP&A, the Corporate Controller, and the M&A team.  The candidate will have demonstrated experience in finance, the energy industry, and financial modeling.

Position Description

  • Build complex project finance models for existing assets owned by JERA and manage the regular updating of actuals/forecasts.
  • Work collaboratively with the Financial Asset Management group and Risk team to manage long-term forecasting of projects.
  • Own the JERA Americas corporate finance model taking outputs from project models and working with accounting, tax, and finance to produce long-term rollup forecasts for JERA Americas.
  • Manage corporate finance facilities (revolving commitments, LC facilities, development facilities) to support the capital needs identified in long-term planning.
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends with respect to financings and maintain forecasts of outlook for refinancing of JERA-owned projects.
  • Work with the M&A team on sell-side initiatives, leveraging existing project models for third party distribution; for acquisitions, build internal project models for long-term forecasting.
  • Support the Project Finance team on initial and refinancing projects as needed.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field
  • 3 + years of experience in corporate or project finance;
  • Experience with corporate finance debt facilities;
  • 5+ years of financial modeling experience, including building complex financial models from scratch
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting as it relates to project financed assets;

Preferred Education and Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • MBA degree or CFA designation
  • 5 + years of experience in corporate or project finance, structuring of corporate or project finance debt, including experience in renewables;
  • 7 + years of financial modeling experience including automating models with VBA programming;       
  • Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting as it relates to project financed assets;
  • 3+ years of experience in managing others;
