Position Description

Job duties: The Senior Manager Low Carbon Energy Transportation position will provide commercial and physical subject matter expertise on energy shipping and transportation contacting for low carbon fuel production facilities, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and other commodities including ammonia. Explore and evaluate economics and potential costs for transportation services. Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most costeffective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies. Deliver expertise on conversions, costs and operations of LNG carriers for Floating Storage Units (FSU) or Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRU). Provide expertise and leadership in defining and evaluating commercial shipping agreements and services. Participate and provide input and direction on commercial business development activities. Assist team with communications and interaction with JERA HQ staff on projects, evaluations, budgets and approvals. Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers. Work with team to identify, evaluate, and develop small-scale LNG opportunities, including LNG marine bunker fueling supplies and loading. Document and draft business plan that assumes the company’s equity ownership (partnering with qualified operator) in the shipping fleet used to deliver NH3 from our production facilities. Develop and maintain a low carbon fuel cost of delivery matrix for all viable American ports. Develop a matrix of worldwide low carbon fuel ship building available and cost matrix. Plan or implement improvements to internal or external systems or processes. Monitor and advance Hydrogenous liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC) business concepts and plans in terms of shipping by very large crude carriers (VLCC) oil tankers including economics and logistics. Evaluate North American LNG bunkering projects, including enticing international shipping companies as LNG bunkering customers. 

Qualifications

Experience: 10 years of experience in Transportation Industries or related. Requires skills and experience to involve: 5 years of experience in managing low carbon energy transportation; Extensive project development experience with related to liquified natural gas (LNG) solutions, including Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) and floating storage unit (FSU); Extensive knowledge on energy shipping and transportation contracting for low carbon fuel production facilities, LNG, and other commodities including ammonia; Extensive ship chartering and operation experience in the field of energy transportation; Experience designing marine port infrastructure and terminal operation including ship shore compatibility; Demonstrated experience negotiating ship chartering and leading shipping projects; Deep knowledge on global shipping market and ship building technology including new trend on low carbon maritime fuel; and Deep knowledge on regulatory requirement and rules on international shipping including but not limited to from International Maritime Organization (IMO), ship flag country, ship classification society, Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF).

 

Must be fluent in Japanese. Requires domestic and international travel, 20-25 trips per year to U.S., Europe, Southeast Asia, and Japan destinations (25%).
