Summary

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Upstream Accounting to lead our upstream financial operations. This role requires deep technical expertise in reserves accounting, impairment testing, depletion calculations, and acquisition integration, along with strong proficiency in BOLO accounting software. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the integration of recent upstream acquisition into JERA systems.
  • Lead upstream accounting operations including joint interest billing, revenue accounting, and asset accounting.
  • Oversee reserves accounting and ensure alignment with engineering and finance teams.
  • Manage and review impairment testing and depletion calculations in compliance with GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Direct accounting activities related to acquisitions and divestitures, including due diligence, purchase price allocation, and post-close integration.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for upstream operations, including monthly close, variance analysis, and audit support.
  • Oversee operator’s BOLO accounting system. Prepare for integration into JERA systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to support quarterly and annual audits.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and accounting standards, implementing changes as needed.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Promote collaboration across departments including land, engineering, and finance.
  • Champion process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate decisive leadership in complex problem-solving and decision-making scenarios.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, delivering insights and recommendations that support business goals.

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in upstream oil and gas accounting.
  • Strong proficiency in BOLO and other industry-specific accounting systems.
  • Experience with SAP
  • Expertise in reserves accounting, impairment testing, and depletion methodologies.
  • Proven experience in acquisition accounting and integration.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
