Summary/Objective
The Senior Vice President of Operations is a key member of the JERA senior leadership team and the O&M business strategy development responsible for providing oversight to ensure that each thermal generation and renewable energy facility is operated and maintained in a safe, reliable, environmentally compliant and economic manner consistent with OSHA regulations, PPA requirements, OEM specifications, O&M Agreements, wholesale market rules, applicable project permits and equipment specifications, including OEM’s and third party alternatives. Provide oversight ensuring that each facility is operated and maintained in accordance with electric industry best practices for wholly owned, partially owned and third-party owned power generation plants. Oversee management of LTSA and 3rd Party O&M Agreements as applicable. Oversee preparation and tracking of O&M budget and capital expenditures and planning.
Position Description
Essential Functions
- Possess intimate knowledge of OSHA performance metrics and industry EHS programs and benchmarks
- Ensure that each JERA facility is operated and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner in full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manage 3rd party O&M Agreements for each facility and ensure that the terms of each agreement are followed and compliant with corporate requirements, rules and regulations.
- Ensure all reports and submittals required under the terms of the project contracts including O&M Agreements are prepared and submitted in a compliant manner.
- Ensure each facility maintains compliance with all policies, procedures, market rules, and commercial obligations
- Support JERA policy development and ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and commercial commitments
- Coordinate with and manage internal and external legal resources as needed to manage the business
- Lead the CPGO Group operational activities and ensure adequate bench strength for acquisition, development, and merger activities consistent with Jera America’s Business Plan
- Review coaching, training, and development programs for each facility to ensure appropriate skill sets are maintained. This includes the implementation and scheduling of training programs that cover operations, maintenance, safety, and regulatory areas
- Implement and oversee process improvements and identify and track key performance indicators at both the plant and corporate level
- Participate and support JERA business development initiatives and plant due diligence efforts as required
Work closely with the management of Jera NEX to support its business initiatives as needed to ensure compliance with JERA America’s contractual obligations

- Participate in strategic planning and annual budgeting process for the JERA CPGO group, review and provide timely comments on each facility Operating Plan and Budget including CAPEX planning
- Ensure submittal of weekly, monthly, and annual reports required for management review and partnership evaluation
- Prepare for and present at the Board of Director level and Jera Senior Management
- Assist and execute other duties as may be assigned by the CPGO

Qualifications Continued
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or commensurate relevant power generation experience is required
- Minimum ten years’ experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager or Maintenance Manager in a utility scale IPP power generating facility
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, mathematics as related to thermal and renewable power generation
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs and Senior Management presentations
- Excellent technical, conceptual, and financial skills to support plant budgeting cycles and development/acquisition opportunities
- Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals, leading the CPGO Operations Group
- Must be able to travel both within the United States, Japan and internationally to meet with facility, and corporate, vendors and partners
