Summary
The Tax Department leads the Company’s tax planning and strategy and has oversight of tax compliance. The Tax team is part of the Finance organization and is located in Houston, Texas. The Tax Manager oversees key areas of tax provision, compliance, planning, and state and local taxation while guiding and developing junior staff.
Position Description
Essential Functions

- Oversee preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, including review of returns and analysis of tax positions. Partnership and state experience is a plus.
- Lead tax planning and research activities related to business transactions, process changes, and evolving tax regulations.
- Direct and review monthly sales & use tax filings, exemption certificate management, property tax filings, and business license compliance.
- Serve as a strategic partner across business functions, advising on tax matters and impacts to operations.
- Respond to inquiries from taxing authorities and manage audits as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 5+ years of experience in a tax-focused role preferred, including increasing levels of responsibility
- Strong proficiency with Excel, Word, and other general office environment software
- Excellent analytical, reading comprehension, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Education and Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- CPA license strongly preferred; Master’s in Tax preferred
- Preferred experience in state and local taxation
- Preferred experience in tax provision
- Familiarity with partnership taxation preferred
- Experience with tax research tools preferred
