Summary
The Vice President of [GEP] Development will play a key role in advancing JERA’s strategic and revenue growth with responsibility for greenfield, mid-stage and brownfield project development of low carbon energy infrastructure projects across the U.S., including thermal generation, energy storage (e.g., lithium-ion and long-duration energy storage), renewable energy resources (e.g., solar, wind) low-carbon energy solutions (e.g., hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture, and direct air capture) and LNG receiving and distribution infrastructure (Regas terminals, FSRU, Break Bulk) as business strategy dictates.
This role requires strong cross-functional leadership, risk management acumen, and the ability to collaborate across internal and external stakeholders to drive value creation and portfolio growth. This role will work in close partnership with the CPGO, CSO, M&A and External Affairs teams to prioritize projects and optimize portfolio value.

- Execute on JERA strategic initiatives by identifying relevant thermal (and other dispatchable) energy markets, building relationships with potential clients, partners and stakeholders, creating new sales channels and developing a robust project pipeline of opportunities in the U.S. energy market.
- Lead the development activities for thermal generation, energy storage (e.g., lithium-ion and long-duration energy storage), renewable energy resources (e.g., solar, wind) low-carbon energy solutions (e.g., hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture, and direct air capture) and LNG receiving and distribution infrastructure (Regas terminals, FSRU, Break Bulk) as business strategy dictates. This may include taking on a lead role in certain major energy infrastructure projects already under development.
- Lead end-to-end development activities from origination, permitting and interconnection, to commercial structuring, execution readiness and governance (FID) approval. Establish project viability through comprehensive financial modeling incorporating commercial structures, capital costs, operating assumptions, incentive programs, tax equity structures and debt financing scenarios.
- Utilize network and experience, along with collaboration with the M&A group, to drive market and revenue growth through project acquisition, asset acquisition, customer acquisition, market expansion and commercial partnerships.
- Develop, manage and prioritize a robust portfolio of customer targets, acquisition targets and project development opportunities including greenfield, mid-stage and brownfield assets in alignment with JERA strategic initiatives.
- Develop and manage regional and national external consultants to execute on development of a multi-GW portfolio of development assets. Execute in accordance with the JERA America’s project delivery framework.

- Coordinate with and drive internal and external parties (i.e. all development work-streams and support functions) to minimize execution and operational risk;
- Create and manage greenfield and general development budgets and schedules for projects, and execute the development of projects in accordance with schedule and budget;
- Manage development work-streams with support of internal team and complement of external consultants (e.g. site control, interconnection, resource assessment, preliminary D&E, permitting, etc.); manage stakeholders through project development cycle including local community outreach;
- Negotiate and execute contracts and agreement associated with development work-streams, offtake and supply (e.g. power purchase agreements, land-lease/options, large generator interconnection, consulting service agreements and work orders, permits, tax abatement)
- Provide guidance, direction, and education to all team members; be instrumental in managing team resources to meet annual Company, Segment, Department and team objectives.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related fields
- 15 years’ experience in the Power, CCS or Energy Project Development, including origination
- 8 years’ experience managing teams
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in related field
